A I R Casa Santa Ana
Artists in Residence Program

We are pleased to announce that the 2007 AIR Program has been awarded to Hand2Mouth Theater.
http://www.hand2mouththeatre.org/

AIR Casa Santa Ana is a two to four week residency held each year in May. AIR provides a collaborative environment by assembling a diverse community of three to five artists from around the world. During the residency artists use the Casa Santa Ana grounds as their studio for exploring the process of creating art.

AIR provides living and studio space for visiting artists in the center of the colonial town of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. The facility, which includes a cook and housekeeper, is provided at no cost to accepted artists. Artists are responsible for their own transportation, food and work materials.

While AIR's principle area of interest is painting (in all its forms) we welcome sculptors, writers and theater artists. AIR is particularly interested in residencies that will result in exhibitions at Casa Santa Ana or in San Miguel de Allende. We encourage artists to work toward exhibitions either as individuals or as collectives.

The unique setting, relaxed atmosphere, and interaction between artists, permits a wonderful opportunity for greater creativity. As San Miguel de Allende is an international arts community, there are opportunities to visit many galleries and meet artists. In the evenings the group gathers for dinners, lectures, art openings and events..

Overview

Selection of artists will be based on artistic experience and merit, and a project proposal.

Accommodation includes comfortable private living quarters and shared studios in the grounds of a 265 year-old Colonial home. Casa Santa Ana is located four hours northwest of Mexico City, in the heart of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. AIR welcomes international artists from all horizons to meet and collaborate with local artists and to research and create new work in an artistic laboratory created specifically for them. The AIR Program has three primary objectives:

- The hosting of resident artists

- The support of contemporary creation

- Exhibition and cultural interchange

The program also includes AIR Art Advisors who interact with the artists with one-on-one studio visits. Experimentation is encouraged as is discourse and collaboration. AIR combines uninterrupted time to create within a stimulating atmosphere of exchange. The resident artists are invited to give an informal exhibition where their works are presented at the end of the residency.
