Vacation House Rental in San Miguel de Allende

History

Casa Santa Ana is one of San Miguel's finest historic homes. This gorgeous colonial masterpiece is located a block and a half from the Jardin in El Centro. Built in 1740, Casa Santa Ana has been home to many prominent people including president Santa Ana during his fifth presidency in 1833. The house fell into ruins until 1985 when it was renovated and opened as a hotel known as Villa Santa Ana.
In 1994 Page Hayes bought the property and, with the help of well known colonial architect and the former director of the Historical Society, Olga Adriana, further restored the Casa Santa Ana over a two year period. Page was a lifetime collector and patron of the arts and her tremendous collection of paintings, drawings, and sculptures remain displayed throughout the house. Casa Santa Ana has been included in the Biblioteca's House and Garden tour multiple times and featured in several magazines.
